 Set goal to divert 50% waste from the landfill thereby extending (doubling) the life of the cells.

 What amount of savings? (How much does it cost to build one landfill cell?)
 What is lost ? (How much revenue from tipping fees)
 
 A(dollars per ton)   x  B(tons per year)  x 5 years(present life of cell)=$ lost
 
 Then add revenues from recycling, composting and scrappinig.  Add number of new jobs created.
 
 
 
 PRIORITIES FOR CHANGES IN WASTE MANAGEMENT
 For Taos Town and County
 
 1. Provide containers and pick up for recyclables at all County
  transfer station locations. (glass, paper,metal, yardwaste)
 
 2. Ban yardwaste from landfill.  Make composting yard with chipper.
  Collect yardwaste from collection routes(2x per year)
 
 3. Ban white goods from landfill. Sell as scrap metal.
 
 4. Provide use of vertical baler with downstroke to bale clothes 2x
  per month.  Provide dry area to store bales. Ship bales to market.
 
 5. Provide recycling at schools.  Ban styrofoam lunch trays.
